Our Facility

Our shop is located in the old town center of East Hampton, one of the towns that make up Middlesex County in central Connecticut. We are roughly one half-hour East of Wesleyan University in Middletown.

East Hampton is a semi-rural town whose main geographic feature is the 500-plus acre Lake Pocotopaug. Originally inhabited by the Wangunk Indians, the first settlers arrived here from Eastham, Massachusetts in 1739. The town, then referred to as part of Middle Haddam Parish, was first incorporated as East Hampton in 1767. Today, locals refer to East Hampton as "Belltown" since at one time over thirty bell makers, most notably William Bevin, based their businesses here.

Our shop is located in one of the old bell foundry buildings, which dates from the mid-nineteenth century. With oak strip floors, 14-foot ceilings and massive east-facing windows, we have found the space here to be particularly well suited to our work.

To meet our needs for current and future projects in 2004 we expanded our shop to over 5000 square feet. The new shop space houses our spray finishing room, pipe shop, pipe washing station and additional area for the milling equipment.

Due to our need for the capacity to face wider stock, in 2005 we acquired a three-horsepower Powermatic 12" jointer, which along with our 38" wide Woodmaster drum sander, will continue to refine production in our mill and cabinet work. Separate from the mill, erecting and storage areas is the voicing room and office, with our CAD workstation and plotter.

We invite you visit with us if you are ever in the area, though we would ask that you call and make an appointment.
